first_imgCan’t Pay Won’t Pay have condemned today’s budget as a “ mean assault on the living standards of families” and have called for a huge protest this coming Saturday.“The introduction of a tax on the family home with cuts in child benefit will cause hardship to many,” said spokesperson Francis McCafferty.“These are huge burdens that many simply will not be able to bear while the cut in the Household Benefit package reeks of the most scrooge-like meanness: a tiny saving from the most disadvantaged in our society. “We won’t accept this. We did not pay the Household Charge and we will not pay Property Tax. This is the most effective weapon we have against this assault on our living standards. We call on families in particular to join us in our demonstration against this disgraceful budget and home tax on Saturday.”Can’t Pay Won’t Pay will hold a demonstration against the budget cuts and Property Tax this Saturday in Letterkenny, assembling at the Station Roundabout at 2pm. BUDGET 2013: CALL FOR PROTEST AT ‘MEAN’ BUDGET was last modified: December 5th, 2012 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:BUDGET 2013: CALL FOR PROTEST AT ‘MEAN’ BUDGETlast_img
